The Centre for Health and Social Development (HeSo) is a multi-disciplinary resource centre for international health and social development based in Oslo, Norway. HeSo was established in October 1999. Current HeSo staff have expertise in a number of sectors and provide a range of services covering policy, systems development, and programme support and all phases of the project cycle.

The cornerstones of HeSo's professional competence are improved health, and social and economic development, most often in the overall context of poverty alleviation. Sustainable development is a fundamental HeSo operating value that by definition means appropriate, affordable services offered cost-effectively on an ongoing basis by capable institutions, structures, systems and public servants to an informed citizenry that understands and appreciates the value of these services. Increasingly and by necessity, stakeholders of sustainable development include non-government and private sector actors as well.

HeSo has formal cooperation with several other Norwegian and international organisations, as well as a Frame Agreement with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). Under the latter agreement, HeSo supports NORAD with consulting and advisory services in the health sector.
