Adviser for Expanded Programme on Immunization, World Health Organization, Regional office for South East Asia, focusing on the quality assurance and logistics of vaccines. Advising the member countries’ governments and assisting in their long term planning. Under my supervision all countries in the region established and trained a National Control Committee for Vaccines and a Control Laboratory for assuring the vaccine quality.
The cold chain in all the region was consolidated.
I was given a special brief to recommend a programme management tool for SEARO. (The regional office of WHO) I consequently travelled to and analyzed the tools used in the HQs, Africa and Middle East regions and offered my recommendations.

Technical Officer in the Global Programme on AIDS, WHO, SEARO. Responsible for 11 countries with the brief: to "advise, revise and amend operational aspects of the AIDS and STD Prevention and Control Programmes in SEAR….to carry out technical supervision of the technical officers in the field, interact with NGOs, review strategic country plans, provide logistical expertise and communication support" I developed and programmed a computer tool for controlling budgets and implementation of the 11 countries’ HIV/AIDS programmes. HIV/AIDS/STD activities were mainstreamed.

Executive director for Emergency Relief Desk (ERD). This was a project run by a 10 nations international consortium and had its HQs in Khartoum, Sudan. ERD was channelling foods and medical supplies from 9 back donors to Eritrea and Tigray. The total budget last year was 75 million US$ in cash and supplies to an amount of 200-300 million US$. The main work was to supply food and medical supplies after assessing the needs, planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting. The work required skilled negotiations with the implementing agencies, international and national NGOs and with the host government.
